Hello all,
A big thank you again to John Griffin for the incredible presentation and showcase of work; also thanks to David Daruszka for the handouts and information on ASIFA and The Helen Victoria Haynes World Peace - Storyboard and Animation Scholarship Competition.
The attendance at this meeting was not as large as our last meeting however I think that was due to bad weather and confusion with the meetup.com site, which I have fixed. Our next CATNAP meeting is on March 10th and I have clearly posted it on the meetup.com site so there will be no confusion.
That being said, I do think John Griffin had an incredible presentation and invaluable advice for young animators everywhere and I hope to have him back in the summer when the weather is more agreeable. I have also posted extensive notes on the CATNAP website about John’s presentation and David’s handouts.
We do have a speaker lined up for our next meeting but I will give more details on that once we get closer to the date. I also have a few new event ideas to discuss in March, including a possible CATNAP sponsored animation shorts festival, this is still very much in the air but it will make for a great idea session and conversation in March.
The CATNAP website has been fully updated and now has the remaining Glen Keane videos posted and meeting notes from the January 20th meeting.
Side note: “The Animation Show” will be showing at The Music Box in Chicago February 9-10, I urge anyone that can attend to please do, especially Bill Plympton fans.
Thanks again to everyone helping out with CATNAP, it’s soon going to grow out of control…and it’ll be great!
John
